Ideas For Effectively Using B Generous On Your Website
1. Add B Generous to Your Website's Main Donate Button or Navigation Bar
Your nonprofit organization likely offers multiple ways to give, like stock donations, crypto, or monthly giving.
In order to get value from B Generous, it must be easily accessible from your website's main donation page or navigation bar.
Some of your donors will want to use Donate Now, Pay Later, and others will want to use a standard donation form. Both methods should be easy to access and understand. We recommend the following methods to simplify that process.
3 Methods for Adding Donate Now, Pay Later to Your Navigation:
Choose the integration method that works best for you.
- Method A: Donation Page Replacement Popup Method (Recommended)
- Method B: Two Donation Buttons Method
- Method C: Donation Type Custom Landing Page Method
Method A: Donation Page Replacement Popup (Recommended)
This method uses a popup and a welcome screen to offer a frictionless way for donors to select how they'd like to give after clicking the donate button on your website.
When a donor clicks the "donate" button on your website, you can open up a popup screen that offers your donor easy access to your organizations existing standard donation form, to your B Generous form, and even links to other ways to give.
Examples of the donation page replacement popup:
- UC Green Example (Click the donate button to open their form)
- VAD Foundation Example (Click the donate button to open their form)
This makes it easy for a donor to choose how they would like to donate, without the need for them to load an additional page to make the choice. This is the preferred method, since donors can always access your ways to give by clicking your donate button, and donors can choose their giving method with the right information associated with their gift.
This welcome screen can be configured in your portal to link to your existing donation form and other giving methods in your B Generous account.
Remember: to use a popup, you must first add the popup install code to your site. Instructions can be found here.
Method B: Two Donation Buttons - Add a Donate Now, Pay Later Button to your navigation bar next to your donate button
This method presents two options for how to give as separate button - Donate Now, and Donate Now, Pay Later. The disadvantage of this method is that donors will need to actively choose "Donate Now, Pay Later" from your website, and they may not understand it without additional context. This should be used only when the single button method will not work on your website.
Method C: Use a custom page to help donors select their donation type
This method presents a custom page built by you that allows donors to choose their giving method. On the one hand, this method allows for more customized messaging around your different donation methods. On the other hand, it adds more friction than the welcome modal (Method One) because it requires loading an extra page. It can be more difficult to clearly communicate Donate Now, Pay Later to donors, so they'll be less likely to choose it, and you'll be more likely to raise smaller gifts on average.
If you choose to use this integration method, present the option between your standard giving form and your Donate Now, Pay Later option in the following way. Studies show that a significant portion of donors will choose to pay later, and 74% of donors said they would consider giving a double sized gift if they could pay it in installments.
