Explanation of Fees
The following columns will appear in your B Generous nonprofit portal reports and exports.

Donation Amount donation_amount |
This is the original amount donated by your donor, less any additional contribution the donor may have chosen to add during checkout by selecting the option to help cover fees. |

Additional Contribution additional_contribution |
If the donor chooses to add an additional amount to their gift to help cover a portion of fees during their donation, this is the additional amount that they have donated. |

Financed Amount financed_amount |
This is the total amount that the donor has given, which includes the original donation amount plus any additional contribution they have chosen to make to help cover fees. |

Fee fee |
This is the gross program fee applied to the financed amount, which covers all services provided by B Generous, and does not take into account any reduction in overall fees that might occur if the donor chooses to increase their gift to help cover a portion of the fees. |

Net Fee net_fee |
This is the net program fee, and represents the fee minus any additional contribution that may be made by the donor. |
How the "Cover Fees" Option Works
If a donor chooses to help cover fees, it will appear as "additional contribution" on your gift reports and exports.
During a donation, donors can opt in to help cover a portion of their donation processing fees, and the majority of donors choose to do so.
When a donor select the "Cover Fees" toggle, it simply allows that donor to increase the size of their gift to offset some of your costs associated with processing the donation.
How much is covered when a donor opts to help cover fees?
The amount that donors are invited to give to help cover fees differs depending on the size of their gift and payment plan options. The amount falls between a 5% and 8% increase in the size of their gift. This amount that is offered is chosen to maximize the amount of fees that are covered while still providing a great donor experience.
